Beautiful hotel in a stunning setting by the river Dee. A warm welcome greeted us on arrival and we were quickly checked in and made our way to our room, which was gorgeous with amazing views over the river. A couple of quiet drinks by the fire in reception was a lovely chilled way to spend and hour or two in the afternoon, before we changed for dinner. The meal in the brasserie was fantastic, and the staff were attentive but not overbearing. We then retired to the great hall for a nightcap and the staff lit the fire while we took in the surroundings, looking fantastic and amazingly festive. All in all, a lovely, relaxing stay in a beautiful setting, made even better by the warm welcome and clean comfortable room. We'll definitely be back.

The hotel is in an excellent location, close enough to the main A roads for easy travel to tourist attractions such as Balmoral Castle or Glen Garioch Distillery, yet located in a quiet corner away from the hustle and bustle of old Aberdeen. You are guaranteed a peaceful knights sleep. My room was spacious with a touch of country house chic and afforded an excellent view of the river and a golf course beyond. The cooked breakfast was ample and of good quality which will set you up for the day. The evening menu is not expansive but the cooking is well executed. Venison was on the menu as one would expect in Scotland. The staff are young, enthusiastic, eager to help and appear to be well trained.

It was a very enjoyable experience. The room we stayed in was really wonderful. Spacious and lavish. Beautiful room with lovely views overlooking the river. Comfortable four poster bed. It was one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in at a hotel. So good it even had a name and not a number. Most hotel rooms you pay a lot of money for some pokey, cramped room , however this was a room fit for a Palace or Castle. So spacious and relaxing with silky curtains. Have actually included some photos as it was a hotel and room worthy of taking photos. Normally I would not bother. Did not have a picture of lobby, my wife has though , so added a photo of a painting which I really liked.

The bedroom was comfortable and had everything we needed. The bathroom was exceptional; the underfloor heating very cosy and the whole room was spotlessly clean. We were really happy with the facilities. The staff were really helpful and friendly with all our questions, and at breakfast each morning we were served promptly and with friendliness. We also had a beautiful view of the river Dee from our window which we loved. We can’t fault the comfort and service at this hotel and feel it was well worth the money.

The location is very beautiful on the bank of the river Dee. It really was a room with a view . Dinner on both nights was exceptional. We really appreciated the information we were given about the history of the house and its association with the Knights Templar . A Knight in Armour still waits in the Great Hall above and to the right of the ancient fireplace .
